Full-colour, high-resolution LCD panels provide parametric feedback for currently active controls.

Parameters for the current stack selection are adjusted via active buttons and high-resolution rotaries. Appropriate parameters are automatically mapped onto these controls according to the buttons pressed in the Stack Manager. Current functionality and numerical values are indicated on the LCD panels.

Single, dual, quad, 6-up or 9-up cursor view modes are selected directly. Images are easily compared by toggling between dual/wipe modes.

Source and destination shots can be rapidly selected from the gallery or cutview for copy-paste operations. View-Try-Apply then previews and applies to any shot or group in the timeline. Cut-copy-paste modes create easily defined stack filters for selective apply operations. Gallery management and poster frames can be defined. Thumbnail view expands to fill the entire work area with a storyboard preview.

Fingertip buttons speed up the grading process, enabling rapid navigation to previous or next shots, playback or review. Image monitor and Baselight UI display modes are toggled at the touch of a button. Home zoom functions switch the image display and timeline zoom levels.

The functionality of many controls is extended via an easy-to-reach set of buttons on either side of the Blackboard.

Colour channel selectors and individual resets are accessed rapidly from individual RGB buttons located within a finger-stretch of the main grading controls. Multiple versions of a grade stack can be grabbed and recalled instantly. Any two versions can be compared by toggling between them. All versions can be viewed simultaneously in multi-window view mode. Baselight’s persistent undo/redo system provides an unlimited number of steps backward/forward through the project history.

Details of stack manager status and current selections are instantly viewable. The keyframe display shows keyframe mode, selection and editing information.

One-button application of any grade type enables a flexible and efficient workflow. The inside/outside function allows rapid adjustment either side of selected areas and complex mattes can be quickly defined using two sets of user-definable keys and shapes. Any number of inside/outside layers can be defined and accessed within the current stack through the layer control buttons.

The final stack output or an intermediate layer can be viewed. Individual layers can be easily bypassed to preview a selection of the applied grades and effects. Any image or matte layers, anywhere in the stack, can be blurred with a single button.

Keyframing modes are set directly and keyframes quickly navigated, moved, added or deleted. Grading looks may be copied and pasted from one part of an animation to another.

Any timeline position can be instantly located or calculated by typing timecode or frame number values. Individual cursor visibility is selected and controlled, and multiple cursor views defined and recalled, via the number keys. Up to nine gallery selections and groups of shots can be defined and user-defined macros can be recorded and directly executed.

Specific shots or frames are rapidly located with the jog/shuttle control, and navigation buttons jump directly to cuts, keyframes and timeline locators. The playback mode toggles between loop, bounce and straight play for efficient view and review. Editing controls enable rapid ripple, roll, slip and slide adjustment of any cut or transition on the timeline.

The touch-sensitive, wide aspect ratio tablet is used to quickly draw shapes, pick colours and select UI buttons and objects. It also provides gestural control over many grading and other parameters.
