“SD to 4K” is FilmLight Focus at NAB 2005

FilmLight, a world-leading pioneer of digital film technology, announced today that at NAB 2005, the company will confirm its position as the only provider of tools to address workflows incorporating all formats from SD video to 4K film.

At its NAB exhibit booth, FilmLight will give the first public demonstrations of the latest features for its Baselight grading and finishing system – v2.2. The software is available on the full range of Baselight systems, including Baselight Eight, enabling real-time 4K grading for both film and video deliverables.

The new features will accelerate performance, maximising the speed and flexibility benefits of a software-based grading system. Guest colourist Adam Glasman (Cold Mountain) will put Baselight through its paces at the FilmLight booth.

Also new will be a host software release, version 1.1, for the Northlight scanner, which will offer users new filtering and control options. Highlighted on the booth will be upcoming features for the Northlight 2 high-quality, pin-registered film scanner.

With new sensor technology, optics and electronics, Northlight 2 will provide a speed performance increase of at least 4 times in scanning speed (faster than two frames/second at 2K and 1 frame/second at 4K).

Visitors to FilmLight’s booth will also see demonstrations of Truelight – the system of choice for facilitywide colour management, which is currently experiencing a wave of industry adoption by companies including Rhythm & Hues, Modern VideoFilm, Pacific Title, FotoKem, and others.

Demonstrations of Truelight will show that accurate emulation of the final deliverable can always be ensured and applied throughout the entire project pipeline.

Also on display will be the Truelight Player which offers a simple and cost-effective solution for review or presentation, and the Truelight Probe – now widely considered the single most accurate instrument for the calibration of monitors and digital projectors.
