FilmLight, a leading developer of film scanning, colour grading and colour management technology, has appointed Mark Burton as European Sales Manager. Burton, who has more than 20 years of experience with technology companies serving the film and television industry, will oversee the company’s sales efforts throughout Europe, including Russia and the former Soviet Republics, excluding UK and Ireland.
Burton arrives at FilmLight from Antics Technologies where he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He played an instrumental role in the development and successful global launch of its flagship product, Antics Previz.
“Mark is a smart and dedicated professional who understands our clients’ needs from first-hand experience,” said FilmLight Sales Director, Mike Grieve. “He also appreciates the committment we have to our clients and our interest in working with them to continually develop new and better products. We are very pleased to welcome him to our team.”
Burton was a co-founder and director of Parallax Software, developer of the 2D paint and compositing package Matador. The company’s success was recognised in a Queen’s Award for Export Achievement. Following Parallax’s acquisition by Avid Technology, Burton held senior sales and marketing roles with Avid and served the company in the UK and at its Boston headquarters. Burton holds a Joint Honours Degree in Economics and Economic History with Business, Finance and Management from the University of Leicester.
Burton said that he is impressed with how quickly FilmLight has established itself as a leader in the international film and television marketplace. “I see tremendous potential for further growth as the digital media revolution spreads,” he said. “FilmLight is helping to fuel that revolution through products that enable post-production houses of all scales to work at the highest level.”
FilmLight is coming off a record year for sales. Its products have been embraced by leading post-production houses in Hollywood and the UK and are also coming into increasing use in other media markets worldwide. Recent sales of its Northlight, Baselight and Truelight technology have gone to post houses in Germany, Belgium, Canada, Chile, India and Mexico.
