FilmLight Launch New Generation Digital Intermediate Grading System At IBC 2004

Company Will Unveil and Ship New Truelight Colour Calibration Hardware and Baselight v2 Colour Grading & Finishing System; Preview New Fully Scalable Architecture

FilmLight unveiled today its plans for IBC 2004. FilmLight will launch the new generation Baselight systems bringing real-time 4K grading together with the flexibility of software based systems. At IBC, Baselight will be available with a scaleable super-high-bandwidth backend image processing system (codenamed SpeedFX when previewed at NAB). Baselight users will be able to upgrade to Baselight Four or Eight to create a hero suite for client-attended film grading sessions. Existing Baselight systems can be used standalone or as support stations for the hero suite.

Peter Stothart, Commercial Director, FilmLight comments; “Baselight Four and Eight provide unparalleled interactivity and throughput. The user interface is the same across the whole Baselight range, and the user just experiences the speed upgrade. Baselight has now taken the lead in providing a software-based real-time high-resolution grading suite that meets the demands of top DOPs and colourists. Working in real-time at any resolution, including 4K, now comes with all the power and flexibility of a software grader.”

The beta program will run over the summer with first product deliveries by the end of 2004. System pricing starts at $160,000 (130,000 Euros) for Baselight and $200,000 (160,000 Euros) for each additional four nodes with 4Terabytes.

In addition, at IBC, FilmLight will present the latest additions to the Truelight colour management system and a preview of upgrades to the Northlight scanner.
