New dual-core Octal Processors for Baselight range

FilmLight, a leading provider of digital filmmaking technology, announced today that NAB 2006 will be the launch of a new package in the Baselight grading range – Baselight HD. In addition the entire range of Baselight products will eventually benefit from a new computer system including eight dual-core processors, increasing the speed of all its systems multiple times.
Baselight HD will offer colourists a complete package including a Baselight grading system with HD and SD video i/o specifically designed for video grading and a Baselight Blackboard control surface. The new package is an ideal system for all forms of grading and will be available to purchase from today with delivery in June 2006.
In addition the entire range of Baselight grading systems will eventually contain a new purpose built computer platform system. The new 16 processor (Octal dual core Opteron) 5U rack with 8TBytes formatted RAID disk capacity will provide enough space for more than 10 hours of HD footage.
FilmLight also announced that Blackboard control surfaces will include a separate PC for the Graphical User Interface and Blackboard, allowing all 16 cores in the processing node to be used for grading, and also meaning the grading suite itself can easily be located some distance from the machine room.
Availability and Pricing
The Baselight HD package will be available for delivery in June 2006 from £125,000.
