Inside Llewyn Davis – Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy
Technicolor’s senior digital colourist, Peter Doyle, handled the film grading, first from dailies and principal photography in New York City (from Technicolor-Postworks NY) and then the film’s DI finish from Doyle’s home base in London (at Technicolor Soho).
Cinematographer, Bruno Delbonnel, was awarded the Bronze Frog Award from the Camerimage festival in late November for his wonderful, subtle photography. The film was subsequently accorded the prestigious IFP Gotham Award for Best Feature, quickly followed by the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Cinematography. Joel and Ethan Coen subsequently won the Best Original Screenplay Award from the National Board of Review.
Inside Llewyn Davis is nominated for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for the upcoming Golden Globes.
Masters of Sex – Best TV Series, Drama
Sony Colorworks colourist, Randall Starnes, used Baselight for colour grading the first season of Masters of Sex. The new American TV drama series on Showtime tells the story of Dr. William Masters and Virginia Johnson, based on Thomas Maier’s biography. The first season of Masters of Sex received critical acclaim.
In June 2013, the series was honoured, along with five others, with the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Most Exciting New Series. The series received two nominations for the 2014 Writers Guild of America Awards, for Best New Series and Best Episodic Drama for “Pilot”.
For the 71st Golden Globe Awards, the series is nominated for Best Drama Series, while Michael Sheen is nominated for Best Drama Actor.
