Asad, nominated for Live Action Short Film in this year’s Oscars, is about the struggles of a young Somali refugee. The film was a new direction for director, Bryan Buckley, and for the young refugee stars who had never acted in a film before.
It was graded by Chris Ryan at Nice Shoes, New York, who says:
“Because Bryan used all natural lighting, we had to pay special attention to the rich African skin tones to make sure we opened up the faces and the eyes, where the emotional core of the story rests.”
