FilmLight, the leading manufacturer of film scanning, colour grading and colour management systems, has announced a partnership to provide distribution of Point.360 IVC’s revolutionary Visionary™ Archive technology to all countries outside of the United States.
Visionary™ Archive is based on an entirely new technology for the archiving of colour motion images. It is a unique process using only a single strip of black-and-white film as opposed to the traditional 3-strip separations. The detailed alignment and calibration patterns encoded on film ensure sub-pixel accurate registration of restored colour images, with colour reproduction very close to the original.
Wolfgang Lempp,Technical Director of FilmLight comments that “this is a natural relationship for FilmLight and complements our existing partnership with Aaton. Visionary™ Archive is an ideal application for the AatonK film recorder already distributed by ourselves, taking full advantage of its superior resolution and 3-fold black-and-white recording speed. Our partnership with Point.360 IVC is a dynamic fit which provides a new long-term business opportunity for FilmLight’s international customer base.”
Sean McKee, Director of Restoration & New Technology at Point360. IVC, adds “Visionary™ Archive gives a great future for long term archival storage in both the digital and analogue worlds. We are delighted to be working with FilmLight who share our passion for film quality and technical excellence.”
