Proxima adds the Northlight film-scanner, the latest technology by the British firm, FilmLight, to its production range.
This recent purchase extends the variety of services offered by the well-known Italian company creating visual effects for cinema and television. This development can thus guarantee maximum control for digital operations, right from the first phase, when material is transferred from film and transposed onto the digital platform.
The Northlight Film Scanner was created to enable whole feature films to be digitised in the highest possible quality, exceeding the current market standards, both in image resolution and speed. In fact Northlight can scan images at a resolution of 2K and a speed of 24 frames a minute, and it can go up to a resolution of 8K.
Companies like ILM, Cinesite (with bases in London and Los Angeles ), Framestore CFC, Pacific Title and Éclair have bought Northlight in its first year of distribution.
This is an extremely important acquisition for Proxima. The decision was taken with a view to widening the spectrum of post-production services on offer to the market. It will enable the company to maintain the highest quality standards in the visual field, continually sustained by constantly updating the technology, and it will also strengthen production capacity, especially for the cinematographic sector.
