Purchase driven by expansion of Digital Lab
FilmLight Ltd., a leading provider of digital filmmaking technology, today announced that award-winning post-production facility Framestore CFC has made a substantial investment in its equipment. The purchase includes two additional Baselight Eight grading and finishing systems and a new Northlight scanner to join the existing two in its London facility. Worth approximately £1million the new equipment will be part of a planned expansion of the Digital Lab facilities at Framestore CFC, currently working on a number of major feature films to be released in 2005.
Framestore CFC purchased its first Baselight Eight system in September 2004 due to the speed benefits it would bring to the whole DI pipeline especially on time consuming 4K DI projects. The decision to buy two more systems is based on the success of the original system and its ability to perform at a speed and quality unequalled by any other industry offering.
The additional Northlight scanner will be equipped with the dual-gauge 16mm option and will be used for the digital mastering of entire feature films, for current release and for back catalogue preservation.
All projects in the Framestore CFC Digital Lab are also calibrated using FilmLight’s Truelight colour management system.
William Sargent, Joint CEO, Framestore CFC comments on the investment, “As a leading visual effects facility we have consistently invested in the technology required to provide our clients with the best service and high quality of work. This further commitment to the FilmLight products confirms that they have been highly successful developing products that focus on satisfying customer priorities.”
